Born Lukombo Nzambe, Shimita is a celebrated Congolese singer, composer, and dancer. Influenced heavily by rumba pioneers like Tabu Ley Rochereau and Grand Kalle, he collaborated with major Zairean bands in the 1980s (such as Le Grand Zaïko Wawa) before moving to Paris as the global soukous movement took off. He is widely recognized for his smooth vocals, vibrant stage presence, and contribution to some of the genre’s biggest hits.
“Mavi” (including its popular instrumental version) is a classic Congolese soukous track written by the singer-composer Shimita El Diego (born Lukombo Nzambe) and performed in collaboration with the legendary supergroup Soukous Stars.
