Jahazi Modern Taarab – Ya Wenzenu Midomoni
Tanzanian Modern Taarab group Jahazi Modern Taarab presents “Ya Wenzenu Midomoni,” a classic Mipasho-style song featuring powerful vocals from Isha Mashauzi. The track delivers a strong social message about gossip, jealousy, and people who focus on other people’s lives.
Released on May 25, 2016, and listed on the album VIP, the song was composed by Yusuf Mwinyi (Mzee Yusuph). With a running time of approximately 16 minutes and 27 seconds, it showcases the long-form storytelling and expressive style associated with Modern Taarab.
The title “Ya Wenzenu Midomoni” roughly means “Other People’s Business Is on Your Lips.” Through its bold Mipasho lyrics, the song challenges gossipers and reminds listeners to focus on their own lives rather than trying to stop someone else’s success and progress.
