Tam Tam African Revolution Band traces its roots back to the African Beat Band, which itself emerged from the legendary African Stars Band (Wana Twanga Pepeta). The group officially relaunched on August 7, 2001, at New Silent Inn Club in Dar es Salaam, marking a new chapter in its journey.

Their debut album Maisha Kitendawili (2001) introduced popular tracks like Tunda Special, Mjomba Njaa, and the title song. They went on to strengthen their presence in the music scene with albums such as Mgumba (2002), Usia wa Baba (2003), and Dikodiko (2005).
