
Tshala Muana (1958–2022) was a legendary Congolese singer, dancer, and songwriter known as the “Queen of Mutuashi.” Born Elisabeth Muidikay in Lubumbashi, she modernized the traditional Kasai Mutuashi rhythm into a popular dance style, producing hits like “Dezo Dezo” and “Malu.”
Her energetic, often daring performances earned her international fame and the nickname “Mamu Nationale” (Mother of the Nation).
